Privacy notice

Last updated: 5 October 2026

The English text of this notice is authoritative. Translations are provided for convenience; where they differ, the English text prevails.

This notice explains what personal data euroflation.com collects, why, and what rights you have. It covers two things: visiting the website, and subscribing to email alerts. euroflation is an independent tracker of official Eurostat and ECB data. It does not sell personal data and does not share its subscriber list with anyone.

Who is responsible

The controller of your personal data under the GDPR is the operator of euroflation.com:

Visiting the website

When you load a page, our hosting provider processes your IP address and technical request data (the page, your browser, the time) to deliver the page and keep the service secure. We do not use this data to identify you. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in running and securing the website (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

We count visits with Vercel Web Analytics. It sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device: a visitor is a hash of the request that is discarded after 24 hours, and only aggregate counts are kept. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in knowing which pages are read.

We also use Google Analytics 4. Until you press Accept in the cookie banner, no analytics cookies are set and Google Analytics is limited to cookieless, aggregate measurement. If you accept, it sets analytics cookies that measure how pages are used. Legal basis: your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). Your choice is saved in your browser; to change it, clear this site's stored data in your browser settings and the banner will ask again.

Email alerts

If you subscribe to email alerts, we collect and use:

We use this only to send the emails you asked for: release alerts for the figures you chose, ECB decision alerts if you opted in, and the monthly review. Legal basis: your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR), given by double opt-in. Nothing is sent until you confirm your address by clicking the link in a confirmation email.

We do not track whether you open our emails or click the links in them. Links carry only an aggregate campaign tag, with nothing that identifies you.

Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link and a link to manage your preferences. You can withdraw your consent at any time; this does not affect the processing done before.

How long we keep it

We keep your subscription data until you unsubscribe, then delete it within 30 days. Sign-ups that are never confirmed are deleted after 30 days. We keep only a one-way hash (SHA-256) of your email address, so that an address that unsubscribed, bounced or complained is never mailed again. Legal basis for that hash: our legitimate interest in honouring your choice (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Who receives your data

We use these service providers (processors) to run the website and the alerts:

We do not sell the subscriber list and do not share it with anyone else.

Transfers outside the EU and EEA

These providers are based in the United States or process data there. Where a provider is certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, transfers rely on that framework; otherwise they rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

Your rights

You have the right to access your data, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to its processing, to receive it in a portable format, and to withdraw your consent at any time. You can unsubscribe, change your preferences or delete your data yourself from the links in every email. For anything else, use the contact above.

You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority, for example in the EU country where you live or work, or where the controller is established.

Cookies and similar technologies

The website sets no cookies of its own. Your cookie choice is kept in your browser's local storage under the name euroflation-consent. Google Analytics sets cookies only if you accept. The newsletter pages set no cookies.

Changes to this notice

We update this notice when our practices change and show the date at the top. We announce material changes to the email alerts by email.
