How this price is made
The Brent crude spot price (EIA) is the U.S. Energy Information Administration’s daily Europe Brent Spot Price FOB: the price of Brent, a blended crude stream produced in the North Sea region that serves as a reference for pricing other crudes, for immediate delivery. The EIA takes it from Refinitiv, an LSEG business, and updates the series about once a week.
The euro price is calculated by euroflation: each day’s dollar price divided by the ECB’s euro foreign exchange reference rate for the US dollar of the same day. On a day without an ECB rate (1 January, Good Friday, Easter Monday, 1 May, 25 and 26 December) the latest earlier rate is used.
This is a spot price, not the price of an ICE Brent futures contract (Brent is a trademark of ICE), and it is not a pump price: petrol and diesel prices also contain refining and distribution costs, taxes and the exchange rate. Nothing here is financial advice.

Frequently asked questions
- What is the Brent oil price today?
- On 14 October 2026 the Brent crude spot price was $126.55 a barrel, or €113.04 at the ECB’s reference rate. The EIA updates the series about once a week, so this is the latest published price, not a live quote.
- Why is the Brent price different in dollars and in euros?
- Brent is priced in US dollars. To show it in euros, euroflation divides each day’s dollar price by the ECB’s dollar-euro reference rate of that day. On 14 October 2026 one euro was worth 1.1195 dollars, so $126.55 became €113.04.
- Is this the Brent futures price?
